Rancho Las Lomas: Styled Shoot

I love the opportunity of partnering with new creatives and dreaming up a styled shoot in a new setting. I have long admired the work of Luna de Mare Photography and jumped on the opportunity of partnering with her, while in Orange County, this past March for a wedding. We chose to shoot at Rancho Las Lomas in the small town of Silverado, deep in the countryside of the OC. This venue is a hidden gem.  The grounds are filled with acres of lush plant life, beautiful Spanish-inspired architecture and surprisingly, a number of exotic animals, like a Siberian tiger and a number of zebras. Sadly, they wouldn't let us use the tiger in the shoot...

I love the Mediterranean architecture that so characterizes this venue, and was really inspired by the beautiful blue and white Spanish tile mural. This is where the color palette for our overall design came from. We used a mix of blue hues through the shoot, such as the soft blue scalloped lace chargers and the deeper blues in the ribbon and blue berries, to created a feeling of consistency with the surroundings of the property. For the floral, I wanted to make sure to capitalize on one of our favorite parts of Spring and use white lilac. These beautiful blooms were paired with first of the season peonies, lush garden roses, panda anemones, Italian ranunculus and variegated ivy vine. Our bride for the day, who is also Miss California, wore a modern Alexandra Grecco gown that was absolutely stunning and flowed effortlessly.
